This report marks the launch of the Just Transition Finance Lab, a new project hosted by the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics and Political Science, which aims to test the financial solutions needed for a just transition.
The lab aims to demonstrate that achieving just transition is both possible and financially viable. By fostering partnerships and advocating for policy and market reforms, it seeks to mainstream the just transition in financial decision-making, promote social dialogue, and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
As a catalyst, the lab offers both theoretical and practical support to implement changes of the magnitude and pace required to accelerate the global transition to a resilient, net-zero, and nature-positive economy in a socially inclusive and fair way.
The lab’s activities range from targeted finance strategies for specific areas and sectors to broader efforts aimed at improving regulatory frameworks.
