A new role-play game, developed by researchers at the Wuppertal Institute and the Centre for Systems Solutions as part of the Innovation Regions for a Just Energy Transition (IKI JET) project, aims to support effective negotiations between just transition stakeholders in coal regions around the world.
Tales of Carbonia promotes mutual understanding and learning between the different stakeholders involved in coal phase-out and the energy transition process, while encouraging players to look beyond their own horizons.
Social simulations are designed to help participants explore complex negotiation processes and understand the intended and unintended consequences of transformation efforts. By stepping into the shoes of other stakeholders, participants gain valuable insights into these processes from alternative perspectives and learn about the challenges involved in just energy transitions.
The game is freely available to coal region stakeholders around the world. Please reach out if you would like to learn more.
