The Workforce for the Future: International Skills Partnerships for the Green and Just Transition
As a part of the 14th Global Forum on Migration and Development Summit, held under the French presidency, a side event on the topic of “The Workforce for the Future: International Skills Partnerships for the Green and Just Transition,” is being held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
This global event focusses on the ongoing transition to a low-carbon economy, a task of unprecedented scale and speed. While presenting opportunities, the green transition also brings challenges, including green-skilled labour mobility in governments’ plans for attaining net-zero carbon emissions. Filling skills gaps is challenging, while demographic shifts add to the issue. The event highlights innovative interventions, tools, and frameworks to tackle these challenges and boost the green transition globally in both origin and destination countries.
This side event is a collaborative effort between the International Organization for Migration, Enabel, International Organisation of Employers, African Foundation for Development, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Center for Global Development, Labor Mobility Partnershio (LaMP), World Bank/KNOMAD, and sponsored by the Government of Belgium and Australia.
