Raising Ambition Through Partnership: Integrating just transition in NDCs 3.0

This webinar will facilitate knowledge exchange and discussion on how to address just transition in nationally determined contributions (NDCs). It will outline how the NDC Partnership, including through the International Labour Organization (ILO) and other members, can better assist countries in their efforts to design climate action which incorporates decent work and social justice.

In recent years, the concept of a just transition has been steadily gaining traction as a key topic within the climate action space. A little over two thirds of the last round of NDCs included references to just transition and more than two thirds referred to employment issues. This points to a growing recognition of the importance of working on the links between climate, economic and social goals. NDCs 3.0 provide a crucial vehicle to do that by signaling high-level commitment to just transition and can serve to lay out ways in which such commitments can be translated into action.
