Integrating Just Energy Transitions into Nationally Determined Contributions
Unlocking synergies between social and environmental goals can address existing inequalities, in turn improving public acceptance of decarbonisation measures and boosting the likelihood that they will succeed.
This paper explores why and how frameworks for just energy transitions should be integrated into nationally determined contributions (NDCs).
It outlines a rationale for why this is critical and aims to trigger constructive discussions about what is needed to deliver just energy transitions that result in a global just energy transformation. In addition, this paper provides guidance and recommendations to support governments in integrating just energy transitions into updated NDCs by 2025.
