Energising Women to Advance the Energy Transition in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Region

This event marks the official launch of the Energising Women to Advance the Energy Transition in the SADC Region Project, organised by the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET) and the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE).

The new initiative aims to empower women in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) nations by boosting their leadership and entrepreneurship in the sustainable energy sector. Running until June 2028, the project seeks to strengthen women’s economic empowerment and influence in the region’s energy transition through mentoring programmes, capacity-building activities, and communications campaigns.

The project’s official launch will take place on December 3, 2024, in Gaborone, Botswana, during SADC Sustainable Energy Week.
